Memory Quilt for 2010
The Grief Center will be creating another Memory Quilt for 2010. We currently have three Memory Quilts that are on display annually at our Service of Remembrance – which is a way to express that our loved ones are gone from our lives but that are not forgotten.
If you or someone you know would like to have your loved one as a part of this year’s Memory Quilt, please contract the Grief Center at 607-936-9077, Phillips Funeral Home at 936-9212 or Carpenters Funeral Home at 936-9927 and a Memory Quilt Packet will be sent to you. ALL quilt squares MUST be completed and returned no later than SEPTEMBER 13, 2010. Read on for details of the Memory Quilt Packet…
2009 Remembrance Service a Success!
This year’s Holiday Service of Remembrance was a great success. Nearly 300 people were able to join us at the Victory Highway Wesleyan Church for this year’s 12th annual service and over 300 candles were lit to remember loved ones that have passed on. That is our largest attendance ever!
Services included welcoming words from Jon Carpenter and Pete Russell, an opening prayer by Trish LaFortune, the lighting of the military candle by Staff Sgt. Phil Mazzarese and a message of hope from Pastor Gary Dehaas.
We also had musical solos from Vaughn VanSkiver singing I Light a Candle for You and Jennifer Follette singing Christmas Shoes. Everyone joined together for the final song, Silent Night, and Vaughn VanSkiver ended the evening with a closing prayer.
If you’re interested in further coverage of this year’s service, News 10 Now covered the event and has posted a short video and story (the link will open in a new window).
Thank you to everyone that was a part of this year’s service!
